Volunteer Coordinator

Beacon Hill Village Inc. is a private non-profit corporation founded by and run by elders. The Village's main mission is for people in centralBostonwho are 50 and over to live their lives to the fullest in their own homes, as they grow older. The Village provides its members social and cultural activities, exercise opportunities, and household services, basically everything and anything members want and need. The Volunteer Coordinator is a critical position at the Village. Volunteerism is the core of this organization.

TASKS:

  • Coordinate all Neighbor to Neighbor programs and volunteer and member requests
    • The connection- check in calls and grocery buddies
    • One time errand requests
    • Regular Visits
    • Check in calls and Office Help
    • Community Service offerings
  • Work with the Volunteer Committee to implement all of these activities
  • Develop volunteer trainings and recognition events
  • Implement an online system for volunteer sign-ups- train people
  • Recruit Volunteer Coordinators for individual programs
  • Update Volunteer Handbook
  • Recruit Volunteers- especially drivers
  • Maintain regular contact with members and volunteers
  • Work with Member Services to make matches
  • Work with Office Manager to get member's ride needs
  • Work with Program Coordinator to coordinate volunteers to cover programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced computer competence; BA in social work or business; 3 to 5 years experience in running programs; Volunteer experience desired; Excellent writing skills and work with elders helpful.

REQUIREMENTS: Extensive computer, organizational, and people skills; Ability to multi-task and accomplish tasks on time. Looking for an independent, initiating, up-beat person

POSITION: Part time person- 14 hours per week- no benefits

Wages negotiable based on experience and expertise.
