Bookkeeper - Quickbooks (P/T)

Posted by: The Public Learning Media Laboratory, Inc.

Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Background

The Public Learning Media Laboratory is a small Massachusetts-based non profit organization. It applies current cognitive research to create internet based tools that enhance elementary and middle school education.

These tools, provided free to educators and schools, are designed to help students develop, through interactivity, a more effective and efficient understanding of challenging concepts that are integral to the curriculum.

It focuses primarily on the skills critical to information literacy.

About the Role

This past year, PLML was unable to successfully make use of its Quickbooks software and discovered that it needs the help of someone who knows how to set it up and organize its accounts.

Thus, it is seeking the help of a part-time bookkeeper to accomplish the following critical tasks:

  • Configure (initial setup) of Quickbooks 2010
  • Orgnanize accounts and categories
  • Enter and recondile 2010 data
  • Ongoing, enter and reconcile the 2011 data
  • Prepare an Annual Report
  • Update, on a monthly or quarterly basis, our QB installation
  • Assist, as needed, with our nonprofit filings

Initially, PLML expects there to be about 40 hours of F/T work to configure and rebuild our 2010 books, with the data we have on-hand (invoices, spreadsheet of transactions). Afterward, it anticipates quarterly work to help ensure that the books are up-to-date and accurate. It also anticipates that the bookkeeper will need to assist with required reports and filings.
